Every Stain

  • 6 in 10 girls avoid playing sport because they fear period stains.

Meanwhile for women in sport, period stains are an inevitable part of the game, just like grass, mud, sweat, and other blood stains. And yet, there’s a double standard for blood stains - they mean different things depending on where they are.

Period stains are still considered a mark of shame, while the others are marks of courage, resilience and bravery. At Dirt Is Good, we believe that every stain should be a part of the game, and it’s time this limiting taboo is washed away for good. That’s why we’re partnering with Arsenal and the local community to get more girls playing and staying in sport, cycle after cycle, wash after wash.

The modular system I developed for the Persil x Arsenal collaboration emphasises adaptability and coherence across various platforms. By utilising a grid-based layout, I ensured that the visual assets could be easily resized and rearranged without compromising aesthetic integrity. The colour palette reflects both the brand identities of Persil and Arsenal while maintaining a clean and modern look. Each element has been carefully crafted to resonate with the target audience, down to the icons relating back to how Persil’s audience can tackle period stains when washing.

I developed the motion language that was used across the main film and across for educational, awareness, Q&A sessions, and behind-the-scenes (BTS) films.

The design system is also being featured on OOH, DOOH, Murals, environment design, publications and more.
